Natural Insect ControlWhen looking to eliminate dust mites, it is imperative to first vacuum mattresses and pillows. There is dust mite bedding available with zippered encasings designed to block a dust mite for anyone who suffers from allergies to dust mites. Wash bedding at 87 degrees Fahrenheit or higher as only extremely hot water has an effect on dust mites. Dust any problem areas with tannic acid powder as it reduces the effects of the allergens in dust mite and animal dander. This item is available at pet center and health food stores. There are filters designed to trap tiny dust particles smaller than 10 microns. Use these to cover your heating ducts. Cover your mattress and pillows with laminated covers that keep dust mites from getting through. Finally, avoid using humidifiers as dust mites are drawn to warm and humid environments. Mosquitoes are arguably the most annoy pest in the summer months because they are abundant and they bite. The most important measure you can take against pesky mosquitoes is to remove standing water sources. Change birdbaths, wading pools and pet's water bowls twice a week. Keep your drains clean and unclogged. Remove yard items that collect water. Planting marigolds around your yard works as a natural bug repellent because the flowers give off a fragrance bugs and flying insects dislike. Thai lemon grass or Cymbopogon citratus is a natural mosquito repellent. It contains the natural oil, citronella; a safe and effective substance. Lemon grass citronella is considered more effective than true citronella as an insect repellent. You can buy Thai lemon grass at garden centers and supermarkets. To use it as a mosquito repellent, break a stalk off from the clump, peel off the outer leaves, until you find the stem at the base. Loosen the stem with your fingers and then rub it briskly between your palms. It will soon become pulpy and juicy. Rub the stem over exposed skin, covering thoroughly at least once. You can also make into a liquid using alcohol, for spray applications. Eucalyptus has also been known to prevent mosquito bites. There are countless natural methods to control pests without the use of harmful chemicals all you have to do is research them. You can also find a lot of products in health food stores and online that implement some of these methods in their products. Choosing to use natural pest control is not only healthy for you and your family; it’s also good for the environment. Part 1: Natural Pest Control
